During Sunday’s daring heist at the Louvre Museum, thieves stole eight pieces of priceless 19th-century French crown jewellery, including emerald and sapphire sets once worn by royals such as Empress Marie-Louise and Queen Marie-Amélie. A ninth item — Empress Eugénie’s emerald-studded crown — was dropped and found damaged near the museum.
