Pope Leo XIV, the first American pontiff, begins his papacy
Pope Leo XIV has been chosen to lead the 1.4 billion Catholics across the globe after a surprise election following the conclave to pick Pope Francis’ successor. Cardinal Robert Prevost is the first American pontiff in history to lead the Catholic Church. NBC News’ Anne Thompson reports from Rome on Leo’s second day as pontiff.
