Macron and Merz say EU close to decision on US tariff response

The European Union is close to making decisions on how to respond to US President Donald Trump's pledge to introduce 30-percent tariffs against the bloc by August 1, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Wednesday as he met with French President Emmanuel Macron in Berlin. Macron said Europe had a shared desire "to provide stability and have the lowest possible tariffs".
