US Coast Guard makes record seizure of illegal drugs off Florida coast
<p>The coast guard said it had interdicted 61,740lbs of cocaine and 14,400lbs of marijuana with a street value of $473m</p><p>The <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/us-military">US coast guard</a> announced on Monday that it had seized more than 76,000lbs of <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/society/drugs">illegal drugs</a> off the coast of <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/florida">Florida</a> – marking the largest drug offload in the 110-year history of the maritime law enforcement agency.</p><p>According to a <a href="https://www.news.uscg.mil/Press-Releases/Article/4285029/coast-guard-achieves-historic-milestone-with-offload-over-76140-lbs-in-illegal/">news release</a> from the branch of the US military, officials offloaded approximately 61,740lbs of cocaine and approximately 14,400lbs of marijuana at Port Everglades, Florida, on Monday.
