How Crunchyroll became a global anime streaming empire | BBC News

Anime, or Japanese animation, is no niche. In fact, it’s one of the fastest-growing entertainment sectors.

At the centre of it all is Crunchyroll - a streaming platform that started from nothing to become a global empire.

The company now has over 17 million subscribers across 200 countries.

Tech Now’s Tom Gerken chatted to Rahul Purini, the boss of Crunchyroll, to ask what’s behind the growth and where it goes from here.
