LIVE: U.N. meets on the Middle East and the 'Palestinian question'

The United Nations Security Council meets to discuss the situation in the Middle East, including the "Palestinian question," and to vote on a resolution calling for an “immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire” between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. 
 
The 15-member council will also vote on measures to improve aid access across Gaza, where experts say famine looms and aid has only trickled in since Israel lifted an 11-week blockade on May 19.
