The crash of Air India flight 171, bound for Britain's Gatwick Airport from Ahmedabad in India's Gujarat state, killed more than 240 people. It was the world's worst aviation disaster in a decade and the first involving a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.

The survival of a sole passenger, Viswashkumar Ramesh, who escaped through an exit door seconds after the Air India 787-8 Dreamliner jet crashed killing everyone else on board, has prompted speculation over whether his seat, 11A, is the safest.
