Ancient boats return to the waters of Iraq's Basra

Traditional boats that once navigated Mesopotamian rivers are returning to Basra's waterways through a local heritage initiative. The Maritime Revival Project, established in 2017, aims to resurrect Iraq's naval traditions by recreating models used in ancient Iraqi civilizations, including Sumerian and Babylonian, based on historical manuscripts and texts.
