'We are going to continue this self-defence,' Iran's deputy foreign minister says | BBC News

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh has warned US President Donald Trump against getting involved in a war that he said was "not his war".

He also said it would result in "hell" for the whole region.

Iran cancelled nuclear talks with the US last Sunday, saying they needed to respond to Israel’s attack on Friday. Since then, the two countries have continued to exchange fire.

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has long warned that Iran is close to developing nuclear weapons – Tehran has insisted its nuclear programme is peaceful.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister spoke to BBC’s Chief International Correspondent Lyse Doucet.
