Bosnia marks 30 years since Srebrenica genocide, Europe’s worst massacre since WWII

Bosnia is marking 30 years since the Srebrenica massacre, Europe’s only recognized genocide since the Second World War. In 1995, Serb forces killed more than 8,300 Muslim men and boys in what was meant to be a UN “safe area” during Bosnia’s war. The conflict erupted following the collapse of Yugoslavia, leaving deep scars across the region.
