Constance Marten and Mark Gordon guilty of manslaughter over baby's death | BBC News

Constance Marten and Mark Gordon have been found guilty of gross negligence manslaughter over their baby's death.

The couple went on the run in January 2023 and were brought to police attention after a placenta wrapped in a towel was found on the back seat of a burning car near Bolton in England.

The couple's baby, Victoria, was found dead in a shopping bag in Brighton in 2023 after they spent two months trying to evade authorities.

Marten and Gordon were previously found guilty of concealing the birth of a child and perverting the course of justice. The retrial, which concluded on Monday was on outstanding charges.

Chief prosecutor Jaswant Narwal said they "have shown little remorse for their actions, using different antics to frustrate and delay court proceedings".
