Gaza war is Netanyahu’s lifeline, ceasefires seen as threats: Gideon Levy

Haaretz columnist Gideon Levy told Al Jazeera that Israel's Rafah displacement plan aims to "tyrannise Palestinians in a concentration camp" before pushing them out of Gaza, with the military unable but unwilling to stop it.
He dismissed opposition criticism as irrelevant, stating Netanyahu only answers to his bloodthirsty coalition, though temporary delays hide his government's fragility.
Levy condemned Netanyahu for sabotaging ceasefire hopes, arguing the PM sees war continuation as vital to his political survival.
He expressed zero optimism about Doha talks, noting Trump's disinterest in pressuring Israel.
"After 21 months," Levy said, "I've learned Netanyahu treats ceasefires as problems, not solutions."
The journalist warned that without US pressure, Gaza's suffering will persist as a deliberate strategy.
His bleak analysis framed Israel's actions as systematic ethnic cleansing masked as security policy.
