Mexico’s fuel theft grows into multinational criminal business

Fuel theft has long plagued Mexico, but what was once a localized issue driven by small criminal groups has escalated into a multinational enterprise. Organized crime networks are now at the helm, orchestrating large-scale fuel theft operations that cross borders and generate billions of dollars in losses. The illegal trade affects national security, the economy, and citizens’ safety.
