Is Australia's climate visa a model for the world? | DW News

Small, low-lying islands are on the front line of the battle against climate change. They are disproportionately affected by rising sea levels, coastal erosion and increasingly frequent and intense storm surges. This is why more than a third of Tuvalu's population have applied to migrate to Australia. They hope to do so on a "climate visa", a landmark scheme designed to help people escape increasingly uninhabitable islands.
