Twenty-six nations condemn Gaza aid killings as Israel launches new ground offensive | BBC News

Twenty-six nations have signed a statement calling for an end to the Israel-Gaza war, while food security body the IPC warns more than 1.5 million people are at risk of severe malnutrition or starvation.

The statement has been signed by countries including Australia, Canada, France, Japan and the UK.

Israeli tanks have advanced into the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza for the first time, with local doctors reporting several people there have been killed by shelling.

The escalation comes as more cases of starvation in Gaza are being reported, with one official from the Hamas-run health ministry saying 19 people have died of hunger in the past day.
