Ghana declares national mourning after ministers killed in helicopter crash
Ghana is observing three days of national mourning following a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people, including two government ministers. The military aircraft, carrying five passengers and three crew members, went down in dense forest in the southern Ashanti region whilst en route from Accra to Obuasi for an event addressing illegal mining. Among the victims were the ministers of defence and environment. As the nation grapples with this significant loss, authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the crash, which remains unclear. The incident has sent shockwaves through the country, with citizens expressing their grief and disbelief. It also raises concerns about the safety of Ghana's Air Force, as this crash follows a series of recent incidents involving military aircraft. The government has ordered flags to fly at half-mast as the country mourns this tragic loss of life.
