Egypt and Qatar working on new Gaza ceasefire proposal | BBC News

Qatari mediators have put forward new proposals to revive ceasefire talks between Gaza and Israel, according to Palestinian officials speaking to the BBC.

There has been widespread condemnation of Israel's plan to expand the war by taking over Gaza City with the UN Security Council set to meet later on Sunday to discuss the situation as protests in Israel against the plans grow.

Israeli leaders have rejected criticism of its plan, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying "this will help free our hostages".

Sharone Lifschitz, the daughter of two Israeli hostages taken on October 7, discusses her thoughts on the Israeli plan to take Gaza City and what she feels it could mean for the remaining hostages held in Gaza.
