Edinburgh Fringe Festival: Youth-led shows tackle teenage themes through dance
The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is experiencing a surge in youth-led performances, with a 20% increase in shows created by under-25s this year.
These productions are tackling pressing issues such as toxic masculinity, climate change, and mental health through innovative and interactive formats.
"Wee Man", a dance performance, explores the complex rules of masculinity, while "Teen Odyssey" uses smartphones to engage audiences in a story about identity and intergenerational connections.
Despite facing numerous challenges, recent polls indicate a rise in optimism among young people in the UK, with 62% feeling hopeful about the future.
This positive outlook is reflected in the energy and creativity on display at the festival.
