Ukraine war: Fierce battles as Russia attempts to encircle Pokrovsk

Ukrainian troops suffered heavy injuries while defending the strategic town of Pokrovsk, now partially surrounded after Russia’s most significant advance in months.
Despite unverified drone footage showing Russian losses, their forces broke through Ukrainian lines, gaining 10km in days and endangering critical supply routes.
A Ukrainian commander warned that seizing Pokrovsk would cripple logistics for multiple cities. Meanwhile, Russian military footage celebrated capturing nearby Yablunivka, while Ukrainian medics described extreme risks evacuating wounded under relentless drone attacks.
This push comes ahead of scheduled talks between US and Russian officials in Alaska, with Moscow seemingly intent on seizing as much territory as possible beforehand.
