On Sunday, Canada's Liberal Party chose Mark Carney to replace Justin Trudeau as its party leader and Canada's next prime minister. Carney is a former central banker who worked as Director of the Central Bank of Canada until 2013, when he became the first non-British person to become Governor of the Bank of England. Canada will hold federal elections in October 2025, prompted by Trudeau's resignation as prime minister.
