Texas lawmaker asks whether she faces arrest for exiting chamber

Gina Hinojosa, a Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, asked if she'd be arrested if she decided to leave the chamber. It comes after more than 50 Democrats ended a two-week walkout to delay a plan to redraw U.S. congressional voting districts to favor Republicans ahead of the 2026 election.

After the Democrats returned, they faced new rules by the Republican leadership, requiring each to stay put in the Capitol, unless they agreed to be placed in custody of a state police officer to monitor their movements.
