Gambian fishermen battle foreign trawlers as dwindling fish stocks threaten livelihoods

A sea war is brewing off The Gambia, where local fishermen are fighting larger vessels and each other for dominance.
Government reforms to give locals a bigger say in the industry require foreign-owned commercial vessels to hire Gambian crew members.
It’s pitting Gambians against each other and threatening coastal communities.
