Rubio in Ecuador: Washington pledges $20m in security aid

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio says progress has been made on trade and security cooperation with Ecuador. Rubio told a joint press conference with Ecuador's foreign minister that Washington has pledged 20-million dollars in security assitance to the country. The funds will go towards helping Quito crack down on soaring crime levels, and in the combating of narco-trafficking.

Al Jazeera’s Latin America editor Lucia Newman reports from Santiago.
