Syria set to hold first elections after dictatorship | DW News

Syria plans to hold its first parliamentary elections after decades of dictatorship on October 5, 2025. However, it is not the general Syrian population who will be voting in the election, but only a select group of individuals, raising concerns over political inclusivity. The transitional government led by Ahmed al-Sharaa justifies its decisions with the ongoing instability in the country following the long civil war.
