Negotiations due in Cairo, Trump says Israel agrees to a 'withdrawal line' • FRANCE 24 English

Negotiators were converging on Cairo on Sunday (October 5) ahead of talks aimed at ending nearly two years of war in Gaza. The diplomatic moves came after the Palestinian militant group Hamas responded positively to US President Donald Trump's roadmap for freeing the captives. Trump said on Truth Social that Israel had agreed to an initial line of withdrawal in Gaza and that this had been shared with Hamas. FRANCE 24's Noga Tarnopolsky tells us more.
