A ceasefire, brokered by the United States, is currently underway between Israel and Gaza. The first phase of the deal involves the release of all Israeli hosrages, living and dead, in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. But any number of issues could destabalise the truce.

If everything does go according to plan, however, and a lasting peace is achieved in the region, it could be the crowning achievement in Trump's chequered legacy. FRANCE 24's Noga Tarnopolsky and Fraser Jackson analyse the current state of affairs.
