Pakistan and Afghanistan agree to 48-hour ceasefire | DW News
Pakistan and Afghanistan have announced a 48-hour ceasefire, just hours after dozens of troops and civilians were killed in border clashes.
The temporary truce follows the worst week of violence between the two neighbors since the Taliban seized power in 2021. Its outbreak was triggered by a series of explosions in Kabul, which the Taliban attributed to Pakistan. Islamabad in turn accuses the Taliban of harboring militant groups that have launched attacks in Pakistan. Both sides say the current ceasefire came at the request of the other.
