Pope Francis says he faces 'period of trial' as he issues traditional Sunday prayer from hospital

The Pope described himself as undergoing a "period of trial" as he delivered his traditional Sunday prayer from the hospital.

Pope Francis expressed gratitude to worshippers for their "prayers" and to those "who assist me with such dedication."

Doctors at Gemelli Hospital in Rome report that the Pope is no longer in critical condition.

He was admitted on February 14 with bronchitis, later diagnosed with double pneumonia and a polymicrobial infection.

However, they emphasise that due to his age and limited mobility, his condition remains complex.
