China’s new five-year plan prioritises self-reliance through science and tech

China has announced plans to focus on bolstering innovation in science and technology and becoming more self-reliant.
It follows a high-stakes political gathering that sets the national agenda for the next five years.
President Xi Jinping led the meeting, which included 37 members of Beijing’s Central Committee.
