Deputy PM announces investigation into release of Epping asylum seeker sex offender
Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy says he is "livid and appalled" after an asylum seeker who was jailed for sexually assaulting a teenage girl in Epping was released from prison by accident.
Sky News understands Hadush Kebatu was being released from HMP Chelmsford as he was due to be immediately deported.
His arrest for the sex assault triggered weeks of protests outside the Bell Hotel in Essex this summer.
