Turkish militant group PKK to withdraw fighters from Turkey to Iraq | DW News

The Kurdish militant group PKK says it's withdrawing its fighters from Turkey to Iraq as part of peace efforts with Ankara. The outlawed fighters say they are pressing Turkey's government for concrete measures to move the process forward.

Their announcement comes months after some militants disarmed at a symbolic ceremony. The PKK began its insurgency against Turkey in the 1980s with the aim of establishing a Kurdish state.
