Voices of Gaza: Palestinian poet reflects on life during two years of war

A Palestinian studying English has used poetry to help paint a picture of what life in Gaza has been like during two years of war.

The Resurrection of Postponed Bread by Layla Salma:
In another life,
bread was just bread
warm, absent of fear,
a silent guest at morning tables.

Now, it waits behind barricades
of air strikes and silence,
its scent replaced
by the smoke of waiting.
