Do Syrian families want to return back home? | DW News
There's a heated debate about sending Syrian refugees back within Germany's governing CDU Party ever since Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul visited Syria a few days ago. His comment that people can't live there with dignity sparked backlash. Chancellor Friedrich Merz has now weighed in, saying that refugees may want to return home. We talk to DW's Aya Ibrahim, who just came back from Syria. How does the current situation in the Country look like?
Since the fall of the Assad regime, children across Syria have been paying a devastating price for decades of conflict. Unexploded ordnance and war remnants littering the country have caused a surge in child casualties, with many losing limbs to mines, cluster munitions, and other explosive devices left behind. Young victims navigate life-altering injuries in a country attempting to emerge from years of war. While the fighting may have ended, the weapons of war continue to claim innocent lives.
