Can Mamdani Win Over Wall Street?
Zohran Mamdani pulled off a historic win in New York City’s mayoral race with a litany of promises aimed at making life more affordable for residents. The 34-year-old Democrat handily defeated former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa. He’ll be New York’s first Muslim mayor and the first person of South Asian descent to lead the city in its 400-year history. Now, Mamdani faces the challenge of making his campaign pledges a reality and winning over skeptics, including Wall Street. Mamdani also may have to contend with President Donald Trump, who has already pledged to punish the city for choosing a self-described democratic socialist.
