Iraqis hold little hope for change as polls close in election
Polls have closed in Iraq’s parliamentary election, the sixth since the US-led invasion in 2003.
The vote has been defined by rivalries inside the Shiite camp, a boycott by influential cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, and uncertainty over whether Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani can keep his job.
Al Jazeera’s Ali Hashem reports from Baghdad and Mahmoud Abdelwahed is in Erbil and explains why the turnout there has been low.
