Gaza City’s nights return in darkness as residents rebuild amid ruins

Nighttime in Gaza City once meant busy streets, open shops, and families gathering late into the evening. Today, the city is defined mostly by darkness — broken only by the hum of generators and the faint glow of makeshift lights. With the power grid in ruins, electricity now depends on improvised solutions.
