Columbia University pledges new investigation into pro-Palestine protests to save funding | DW News
The Trump administration has described Columbia University's response to demands regarding its campus protest policies as a 'promising first step'. The university made concessions on Friday, as it tries to regain some of the approximately 400 million dollars in federal funding the White House is withholding.
The White House alleges that the New York City University tolerated antisemitism on campus during last spring's pro-Palestinian protests. Columbia officials promised a new disciplinary process, and a new office to review all courses on the Middle East. Administrators at other elite schools have voiced fears that Columbia has set a dangerous precedent, as the White House uses federal funding to force change.
