Powerful earthquake hits Myanmar, at least 144 people killed in magnitude 7.7 quake
A powerful magnitude 7.7 earthquake has struck Myanmar, with tremors felt across parts of Southeast Asia, including Thailand. The epicenter was located in Myanmar's Sagaing region, causing widespread devastation. State TV reports at least 144 fatalities, with authorities declaring a state of emergency in six regions. Damage assessments are ongoing as rescue teams continue their efforts. In the capital Naypyidaw, residents were jolted awake as buildings shook violently. Hospitals are overwhelmed with the injured, and survivors are struggling to find safe shelter amid the aftershocks.
