Marine Le Pen's ban on holding office: French far-right leader appeals her conviction

An appeal has been launched against a conviction that bars French far-right politician Marine Le Pen from holding public office.
The court says it should be able to provide a decision by the summer of 2026.
That means Le Pen could potentially still run in the 2027 presidential elections.
On Monday Le Pen was found guilty of embezzling millions of dollars in EU funds and was imposed a five-year ban on her holding public office.

Al Jazeera’s Natacha Butler reports from Paris, France.
