Gabon prepares for pivotal vote after fall of Bongo dynasty
Gabon is preparing for a landmark presidential election this Saturday — the first since the Bongo family's long-standing rule was toppled in 2023. Transitional president Brice Oligui Nguema, who seized power in the military-led coup, is widely viewed as the leading candidate. However, he faces serious competition from the former prime minister. The vote is being closely watched both at home and abroad as a key test for Gabon's democratic transition.
Al Jazeera’s Ali Hashem reports from Libreville.
