Europe steps up as US pulls back: Kyiv calls for more air defence systems

As the United States pulls back from its support for Ukraine, Europe has stepped in with increased funding. At a meeting of the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy urged Western allies to send an additional 10 Patriot missile systems to help defend against continued Russian attacks. The European Union has responded by pledging nearly $24 billion in new military and financial assistance.
