Hamas ‘loses contact’ with group holding captive after Israeli strike

Hamas' military wing, the Qassam Brigades, claim the site holding US-Israeli captive Edan Alexander was hit by an Israeli strike, raising concerns after recent proof of life.
Alexander is an Israeli soldier who was taken captive during the October 7 attacks.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly demanded his release - Alexander is the last American being held in Gaza. believed to be alive.
A total of 59 captives remain held in the strip.
Palestinians believe US interest in his release could pressure Israel towards an agreement. However, communication with his guards is reportedly lost, and his fate remains unclear. If confirmed killed, Palestinians fear losing leverage for a ceasefire, potentially prolonging violence in Gaza.
