$1 Billion a lot of money these days?

Databricks just snatched up another AI company (https://techcrunch.com/2025/05/14/databricks-to-buy-open-source-database-startup-neon-for-1b/) .

This week, data analytics giant announced a $1 billion acquisition of Neon, a startup building an open-source alternative to AWS Aurora Postgres. It’s the latest in a spree of high-profile buys, joining MosaicML (https://techcrunch.com/2023/06/26/databricks-picks-up-mosaicml-an-openai-competitor-for-1-3b/) and Tabular (https://techcrunch.com/2024/08/14/databricks-reportedly-paid-2-billion-in-tabular-acquisition/) , as Databricks positions itself as the place to build, deploy, and scale AI-native applications.
